1911 - 1918
1911 An Act was passed by the Nevada Legislature that created a State Board of Health. County commissioners then appointed a physician as County Health Officer.
1917 An Act was passed in Nevada that required all school children be examined to identify problems with vision, hearing, dental, or “if they were addicted to mouth breathing.” Snellen eye chart instructions were given to each teacher.
1918 A Clark County Health officer closed all schools in the county because of the flu pandemic. Mesquite Normal School teacher Miss Connelly took six of her students to White Rock a few miles from Bunkerville until it was safe to return.
